Doctor, executive and tireless worker, Dr Yves Bolduc is well known as a man who never misses an opportunity to make a contribution or lend a hand. Driven and passionate, over the years, he has contributed to a great number of organisations and board of directors in the health, economic and sports fields. He also served as the president of the Association of Councils of Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacists of Quebec for five years.
His studies towards becoming a physician began with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from Université Laval, which he eventually completed with a Doctorate. He also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from ENAP, Montreal’s public administration university and a degree in Bioethics from the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi.
Over the last 25 years, Dr Bolduc contributed to the process of improving access to health care everywhere he has worked. His desire to continually find ways to improve the lives of his fellow man is what motivated him to get involved in politics. Dr Bolduc is known as a doctor who places human contact above all else, a quality that makes him a physician who understands the concerns of his patients and, therefore, who is able to make better decisions.
Dr Yves Bolduc was named Minister of Health and Social Services and Minister responsible for the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region in September 2008. He was elected as a Member of the National Assembly for the riding of Jean-Talon in the September 2008 by-election. Re-elected in his riding on December 8, 2008, he remains the Minister of Health to this date.
His contributions as Minister include, notably, having established the Management and Administrative Table on Access to Family Doctors and Front-line Services as well as the introduction of the Assisted Procreation Bill. His duties as the Health Minister have also included visiting the province’s most troubled emergency rooms and the launch of the request for proposals for the CHUM hospital.
