Born in Saint-Hyacinthe on June 23, 1955

Pierre Corbeil was born in St-Hyacinthe and began his dental surgeon career in Abitibi-Témiscamingue in 1978 upon completion of a Doctorat degree in dentistry at the University of Montreal.  During this time, he also filled the position of Vice-President of the Quebec Association of Dental Surgeons until 2003.  Between 1981 and 1983, he was President of the Val-d’Or Chamber of Commerce and acted as President of the Quebec Provincial Summer Games Committee in 1987.  Between 1988 and 2001 he was elected twice by the citizens of Val-d’Or to represent them at the Town Council.  He also contributed to the well-being of his borough through his involvement in many community organizations including the Val-d’Or Regional Airport Corporation and the Val-d’Or Beer, Wine and Liquor Fair.

On April 14 th, 2003, Mr. Corbeil was called upon to hold the office of Minister delegated to Natural Resources and Wildlife and Minister responsible for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Northern Quebec regions.  On February 18 th, 2005, the Premier confided him the responsibility of Minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife.  Following the 2007 elections, he acted as Co-ordinator of the Northern Quebec Development project and conducted numerous consultations throughout Québec until September 2008.  On December 8 th, 2008, Pierre Corbeil was elected as Member of the National Assembly and appointed Minister responsible for Aboriginal Affairs and Minister of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Northern Quebec Regions. On February 3rd, 2011, Mr. Pierre Corbeil is appointed Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. He remains the minister responsible for Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Northern Quebec.

Pierre Corbeil and his wife Hélène Ayotte are proud parents of Andrée-Anne, Jean-Simon, Marie-Hélène and Pierre-Luc, and happy grandparents of their grandchild Thomas.
