An insurance broker and businessman, Norman MacMillan began his political career as a councilman in Buckingham, where he was in turn President of the Commission on Economic Development and the Intermunicipal Police Commission, as well as a member of the Commission for wastewater management. Mr. MacMillan has a long history of community involvement. He is a member of the Buckingham Knights of Columbus, since 1965, and the Buckingham Lions’ Club since 1969. He was the founding President of the Buckingham Castors junior A hockey club, as well as founding President of the Buckingham Knights of Columbus’ annual Sport Gala. Born in Buckingham, he is married to Marie-Laure Chénier and father of two.
Norman MacMillan was elected MNA for Papineau in a by-election on May 29, 1989, and was since re-elected six times. He is presently Minister for Transportation and Minister responsible for the Outaouais region. He sits on the Sustainable Development and Economic Prosperity Cabinet Committee. He was previously Chief Government Whip and Caucus President, and at various times a member of the Office of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Commission and the Social, Educational and Cultural Development Cabinet Committee.
