Damien Arsenault was born in St-Elzéar on the 20th of November 1960. He completed his high school education and went on to obtain a diploma in diesel mechanics at the Antoine-Bernard de Carleton school in Gaspésie.
His first work experiences will have him managing heavy machinery operations. Though motivated by the challenges presented to him by the forestry and heavy machinery industries, the hard times having hit the forestry industry in the early 1990's and the birth of his four children have him changing paths. Owner of a small business for a few years, Arsenault changes course once again and takes on a career as a school bus driver. He then becomes the owner of a school transport business, which enables him to be closer to both his family and his community as a whole.
In 1993, he is elected mayor of his community; which brings him to 17 years of experience and involvement within the community. Though he is an avid nature lover, Arsenault puts the well-being of his community and his quest for justice before all, and his implication in different areas of public life have had him to continually seeking balance and equality for all of those he represents.
