A graduate of the University of Ottawa, Marc Carrière was born in the Buckingham sector of Gatineau City in 1965. Ever since the early 1990’s, he has been very active in the development of the Outaouais region.

He was elected councilman in Val-des-Monts in 1992, and became its mayor four years later. Mayor for 12 consecutive years, he was the Prefect of the Collines-de-l’Outaouais MRC, and the President of the Outaouais Regional Elected Officials Conference (CRÉO) from 2004 to 2008. For two years before his election as MNA, he presided the Regional Commission on Public Lands and Natural Resources for Outaouais (CRRNTO).

Upon his election as MNA for Chapleau, Marc Carrière became the Parliamentary Assistant to the President of the Treasury Board and sits on the Transportation and Environment, Public Finances, and Territory Commissions of the National Assembly.

He was named Parliamentary assistant to the Chair of the Conseil du trésor and President-delegate to the Ontario-Quebec Parliamentary Association (APOQ). He is also a member of the Parliamentary Confederation of the Americas (COPA), the Quebec-New-Brunswick Parliamentary Association (APNBQ), and the National Assembly delegations to Bavaria (DANRBA) and Catalonia (DANRC).
