A business executive, Lucie Charlebois hails from the business community and is well known in the Soulanges region. She was a member of the Soulanges businesspeople association beginning in 1992, and its president for two years. Until 1999, she was President of L.J.F. enterprises, a distributor for Naturo spring water. She was also a member of the Valleyfield Chamber of Commerce (1992-1999) and the Vaudreuil-Soulanges businesswomen network (1992-1998). She sat on the board of the Coteau-du-Lac Credit Union (1990-1997) and was president of the annual United Way fundraising campaign for Vaudreuil-Soulanges in 1995.

Early in 2003, she decided to run for public office and was first elected MNA for Soulanges in the provincial elections of April 14 of that year. She was then re-elected in March 2007 and, for a third time, in December 2008. On February 27, 2009, she was named by her peers to the position of Caucus President for the Montérégie. She was named Chief Government Whip in February 2011.

Born in Coteau-Station (now Les Coteaux), Mrs. Charlebois is married and a proud mother of two young adults, and now lives in Coteau-du-Lac.
