Guy Ouellette was an officer of the Sûreté du Québec for over 31 years. He rapidly moved up the ranks and became a deputy sergeant to the head of criminal intelligence section dealing with criminal biker gangs. He next became a sergeant to the famed Carcajou squad in Montreal, where he became an expert on biker gangs. From 1997 to 1999, he was an adviser on biker gangs to the Director of the organized crime unit. He then spent two years as advisor to the head of criminal intelligence, and was assigned to the Joint criminal intelligence unit on biker gangs until he retired from the force in June of 2001.
Instructor since 1992 and conference speaker since 1995, Guy Ouellette gave over 250 talks as a police officer specialized on biker gangs, and has continued with speaking engagements since returning to civilian life. He was often a SQ spokesperson to Canadian and foreign media, especially on the matter of criminalized biker gangs. In September of 2005, writing with Normand Lester, he published Mom , a book retelling the ascension of Quebec’s head of the Hell’s Angels, Maurice Boucher.
He was elected MNA for Chomedey in the elections of March 2007. On April 25 of that year, he was named Parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Public Security and became a member of the Public Administration Commission. From May 23, 2007 onwards, he sat on the Territory management, Education and Institutions Commissions of the National Assembly.
He begins a second mandate after the Liberal victory of December 8, 2008. On January 19, 2009, he is named Session President and member of the Culture and Transportation and Environment Commissions. He also acts as Parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Transportation and to the Minister of Revenue. He is currently a member of the Parliamentary delegations to Bavaria (DANRBA) and of the National Assembly Delegation for Relations with European Institutions (DANRIE). Since February 2011, he is also a Member of the Committee on Public Finance.
