Francine Charbonneau has been president of the Laval school board since 2002 and chair of the executive committee since 2007. She was first elected school commissioner for Sainte-Rose district in 1998, and gained broad experience in schooling matters over the next 10 years. She was a member of the Permanent Commission on Human Resources and the General Council of the Quebec Federation of School Boards. With her commitment to education, she was also president of the 2004 convention of the Canadian Association for French-language Education (ACELF).

Mrs. Charbonneau is very involved and devoted to the Laval community. She was a member of the Regional Development Committee of the Laval (CRÉ), a board member of Laval Regional Television, member of the Histoire Laval steering committee, and board member of the Club des petits déjeuners de Laval. From 2002 to 2008, she was president of the Laval School Board Blood Donor Clinic and honorary chair of activities of the Laval School Foundation.

Elected liberal MNA in the riding of Mille-Îles for the first time in 2008, she was Parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities from January 2009 to September 2010. Since September 22nd, 2010, she is Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Families. She is member of Committee on Public Administration and of the Select Committee on Dying with Dignity. On February 10 th , 2011, Mrs. Charboneau became member of the Committee on Health and Social Services.

Laval resident Francine Charbonneau is married with three children.
