Danielle St-Amand was voted Liberal MNA for Trois-Rivières in 2008 and is currently Deputy Government Whip. She is also a member of the Culture and Education Committee and the Health and Social Services Committee. She also represents her fellow members of the Liberal caucus on the board of directors of the Quebec Liberal Party.

She is passionate about human relations, and decided to run in the last election to put her skills at work for society. The times she most enjoys are when she is meeting her fellow citizens and listening to their concerns. She also enjoys meeting youth groups whenever she has the chance, knowing that young people embody our future. She feels privileged to represent the people of Trois-Rivières in the National Assembly. She is proud of the energy and enthusiasm shown by her community.

The MNA for Trois-Rivières is married and the mother of two; family is central to her priorities. Danielle St-Amand trained as a special-education technician and also has a certificate in learning and behaviour difficulties, and continued her studies in human resources management and administration at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. She worked in the Bourgeois Pavilion at Ville-Joie Saint-Dominique and the school boards of the Mauricie region from 1984 to 1997 and then became president of the Mauricie Support Staff Union and national negotiator for the Centrale des enseignants du Québec (CEQ) in 1998.

She was general manager of the Saint-Tite Western Festival in 1998-1999, and again in 2007-2008. That event won the Gold Prize of the Quebec Tourism Grands Prix in 2008. In 2000, she was general manager of the Mauricie Regional Tourism Association and from 2000 to 2007 president and general manager of the Trois-Rivières Regional Hospital Foundation, where she managed a $10-million financial campaign.

Danielle St-Amand has been a board member of many groups such as Tourisme Mauricie, the Major International Events Group in 1998-1999 and 2007-2008, the Quebec Association of Health Institutions from 2001 to 2006, the Le Pont Centre from 2002 to 2007, and the Laprade Economic Development Fund from 2005 to 2008.
