Daniel Bernard holds an Executive MBA from the Université du Québec à Montéral in affiliation with the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue, a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in geological engineering from Université Laval. Daniel Bernard was president of the firm 3E Consultant from 2001 to 2003. From 1999 to 2001, was General Manager of the Quebec Mineral Exploration Association Inc. Previously, he was Senior Engineer for Inmet Mining, Barrick Gold Corporation and SOQUEM.
Actively involved in his community, Daniel Bernard was elected Member of the National Assembly (MNA) for the Rouyn-Noranda-Temiscamingue riding at the 2003 general election. He was a member of the committees on Social Affairs, and Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and was Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from 2005 to 2007. Candidate at the March 2007 general elections, he was then Executive Vice President of Globex Mining Enterprises Inc. from August 2007 to March 2008. Afterward, he occupied the position of Vice President Exploration at NQ Exploration, from March to December 2008.
From April 2007 to March 2008, Mr. Bernard was also involved with the Corporation pour le développement de la formation professionnelle et de l’enseignement supérieur de Rouyn-Noranda.
On 8 December 2008, Mr. Bernard is elected as MNA for the Rouyn-Noranda-Témiscamingue riding. In January 2009, he became Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife. In addition, he serves on the Committee on Labour and the Economy, the Committee on Education and the Committee on Public Administration. He is also a substitute member of the Office of the National Assembly and Temporary Committee Chairman. Since February 10th, 2011, he is the Parliamentary assistant to the Minister responsible for Native Affairs.
