Christine St-Pierre was born in Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies on June 10, 1953. She attended the University of Moncton from 1972 to 1976, studying economics, demography, law and social sciences.  Over the next three decades, she became of the CBC’s French network top journalists, a parliamentary correspondent in turn to Quebec City, Ottawa and Washington. From 2001 to 2005, she also served as a union official at the CBC.

Wanting to put that journalistic experience to use for the benefit of Quebec society, she decided to enter politics in the spring of 2007.  She was elected MNA for l’Acadie on March 26, 2007 and re-elected in December of 2008.  Eversince, she has served as Minister of Culture, Communications and the Status of Women.  She also sits on the Cabinet Committee for Social, Educational and Cultural Development.  Close to the people, Mrs. St-Pierre is known for her passionate love of arts and culture.
