André Drolet was born in Quebec City in 1954. He has been married to Ginette Bilodeau for more than 30 years and they have two children, Jonathan and Michaël.

Mr. Drolet has over 25 years experience in sales and public relations. He was a sales representative and manager for O’Keefe Brewery and Alex Coulombe Ltd., and director of business development for the Groupe Michel Cadrin.

He is also an experienced businessman, as co-owner of businesses such as the Populo brasserie, the Limousine discothèque, the Étang golf centre, the Bulle brasserie and two restaurants in the well-known Quebec City chain, Chez Asthon.

Mr. Drolet is involved in Quebec City business associations. He was a director of the Old Quebec SIDAC (main streets development corporation) and president of the Place Quebec and Grande Allée merchants association. For 12 years starting in 1995 he was an executive member of the Quebec City Chamber of Commerce.

He has also contributed greatly to community affairs. He was a board member and president of the prestigious Quebec Winter Carnival in 1993. He was president of the Quebec City Psycho-pedagogical Centre Foundation, a school for children with learning difficulties. He was a member and president of the Beauport Rotary Club, and a director of the Quebec City Bell Challenge elite tennis tournament.

He has been MNA for Jean Lesage since December 8, 2008. He is parliamentary secretary to the minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Exports and to the Minister of Tourism. He is also a member of the Public Administration Committee and the Planning and the Public Domain Committee.
